An I Love Lucy Birthday Party

Because Mira's very favorite show is I Love Lucy, she decided on that for a theme for her 10th birthday party. She invited 10 girlfriends to come for an evening party of pizza making, crafts, games and watching some I Love Lucy. We had fun decorating in a red, black and white with hearts color scheme and making everything from the cute invitations to the table runners and goody bags. She had a wonderful party and it was so nice to be able to celebrate her with a party.
The girls making bottle cap necklaces; a very fun craft for tween girls.

Games: Cookie face race (the favorite game of the night) and licorice string gobble.

The girls making their own mini pizzas.
Another craft: darling fuzzy flip-flop slippers. I found flip flops on clearance at Old Navy for 99 cents and we bought several colors of fleece from the fabric store. We pre-cut all the fleece with pinking shears in 6 inch strips and the girls tied them on the flip flops to make soft slippers. They loved them and they all turned out so cute.

Annah's front tooth fell out right in the middle of the licorice string gobble game!
 Enjoying their pizzas outside.
12 girls and I Love Lucy = lots and lots of giggles!
 Cake and gifts!

Happy 10th Birthday Mira!

Ten years ago our sweet Mira was born in Kirkland, Washington. What a blessing it has been to be her mama and watch her grow into such a kind, loving and almost always happy girl. Here she is on her birthday morning in her new birthday sweater that I finally finished late last night. We had a big breakfast party and she opened her gifts which included her favorite, Calico Critters.

Annah and West

Annah and Weston have such a sweet relationship and sometimes their age difference of 5 years seems much, much less. They actually play together often and enjoy some of the same things. Tonight I found the two of them rocking out to our Momology CD, dancing around the living room wearing clothes from the clean laundry pile as costumes. Weston had a pair of my yellow underwear around his neck and was dancing around the coffee table, so excited to be included with his sister.

Braces Are Off!

After a year with braces, Mira got to have them taken off last week. To celebrate, her orthodontist gave her a mug full off all the chewy, sticky candy she wasn't allowed to eat while wearing braces. she now wears top and bottom retainers.

Labor Day Picnic

Big Sisters in Charge

As I prepare to be more occupied with a new baby I've been teaching the girls how to take care of West. This past week they gave him a bath and got him dressed entirely on their own. They were so proud of their shampoo job that they took my camera and snapped this photo.
