Trick or Treat

This afternoon Silas and I ventured out for the first time since he was born and our family walked into town for the Goblin Walk. The annual Goblin Walk is a chance for the children in town to trick or treat the local stores. Taking these photos reminds me why I love living in our tiny town so much. We had to make our time in town quick so Shane and the girls could make it to their weekly Monday night Bible Study Fellowship group in Salem. The girls came home with baskets overflowing with enough treats to last a year and sweet little West was trilled with his one tiny Dum-Dum.

Sew Fun

The girls and I are taking advantage of this week off from school with lots of reading and free time for the girls to do crafts all day; and knitting for me in between nursing and resting. I've felt sort of bad about not giving the girls much focused attention this week with the new baby and all so I promised them an afternoon of sewing together today. We had lots of fun sewing felt treats from the book Sewing With Children. I made the eclair and the girls made the cupcakes and the baguette.

Blessed

This week we're enjoying quiet moments together as a family, feeling tired, sometimes overwhelmed but mostly just blessed. Friends have brought meals, pumpkins have been carved, Shane and the girls made carameled apples and we've had lots of time to snuggle together in front of the fire (I even managed to finish West's winter sweater). In the middle of all this Silas and I also had to spend one night and one day in the NICU for some photo-therapy for hyper jaundice due to a blood incompatibility.  We're taking each day and each moment with a newborn as it comes and enjoying our bigger and oh so blessed family of six.

Welcome Sweet Silas
