Berries Baby!

My cousin Elisabeth from Denmark is visiting with her friend (also Elisabeth) and we took them berry picking last week. We picked 9 pounds of raspberries and canned two batches (about 16 1/2 pints) of raspberry jam. We're having so much fun with two 18 year old's in the house - who knew I'd enjoy teenagers so much?! They've been great with the kids and helping with West.

Independence Day!

For our second year in a row we spent the fourth of July in Bend at the Bend Pet Parade and the festival in Drake Park with Shane's family (the Churchills) including Dale and Trevor, my mom and Chip and Leyah and her boyfriend Nick. After a picnic in the park we headed back to our campground and had a big BBQ. Afterwards Shane and the men enjoyed "squirrel fishing" using peanuts and mini marshmallows for bait and then Shane, the girls, Leyah and Nick went into Bend for the fireworks. We had beautiful weather, almost too hot, and we had a great trip!

Swim Star

This summer Mira joined the Silverton Swim Team and she loves it! Her favorite event is the backstroke. At the first swim meet she even beat her personal record by 10 seconds! Shane has also been enjoying taking Mira to practice everyday and getting to be a part of it with her.

Here is Mira swimming in the freestyle race with the 9-10 year old girls division.
