Last weekend we had fun with a bunch of good friends while attending a family concert by the Salem Chamber Orchestra held at Willamette University. The girls dressed up in beautiful princess dresses sent from Kirsten in Denmark (my dad’s wife) and enjoyed hearing songs from Cinderella and from French composer Debussy and others that they’ve been studying in our Classical Conversations Homeschool co-op.
Both girls are fascinated by instruments and we’re planning on picking up a piano this week that Shane’s brother is kind enough to lend to us. Mira can’t wait to start piano lessons and Annah alternates between wanting to learn the clarinet or the cello. Our favorite books to learn more about the orchestra include: Meet the Orchestra, Peter and the Wolf (w/CD) and Beethoven lives Upstairs (a CD).
