Silverton Art Festival

Fine arts, fun, food featured in Silverton

In the art activities area, princess headbands, collage cards, calligraphy notes and soap carvings are waiting to be created.

Annah Wibel, 5, and Mira Wibel, 8, of Silverton were up to their elbows in jewels, feathers, glitter and glue on the first day of the festival, which is in its 10th year.

Annah was especially focused on the task at hand — getting a feather to stick to the paper instead of her skin.

When asked what she'd do with the finished product — a collage card — the girl didn't have any spectacular plans.

"I'll just look at it," she said.

The girl's mother, Tirza Wibel, was sitting nearby, feeding her 5-month-old son, West.

"This is the highlight of their summer," she said. "They really have some great projects for kids. And, it's very relaxing; there's no rush."
