With Mimi (my mom) and Granny (my grandmother) next door, the girls are always running back and forth between houses. These days are a blur of activity in both homes: baking, decorating, crafting and lots of "hygge" (Danish for cozy) time together is filling our days. Growing up in Denmark, I especially treasure our Danish decorations, special holiday treats and traditions like lile Jule aften and Santa Lucia day. Yesterday Mimi had the girls over to help decorate her house for the holidays. Always one to turn any gathering into a party, Mimi had cookies to make, crafts to do and treats to share around the fire.

We are having a very "hygge" Christmas too! I love those danish wooden horses too.
ReplyDeleteOh your home (& your mom's?) looks so hygge ;) and cheerful. Looks like you're all having a wonderfully fun and happy holiday season. Makes me wish my grandchildren weren't so far away.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,

Oh, and I love those red lidded jars! Did you paint the lids or were you lucky enough to find them that way?

I painted the jar lids red, and made the dots with a pencil eraser dipped in white paint. They remind me of the little red mushrooms I saw in the Danish countryside where all three girls were born. "Mimi"
ReplyDeleteThanks Gigi! Most of the photos are from my mom's house. She painted the red lidded jars herself to look like mushrooms/toadstools.
ReplyDeleteHow lovely! It looks like your days are so full of warmth. What a blessing to have everyone so close.
