saturday morning

Happy weekend! We're enjoying a crafty morning after Saturday chores like bath time. And if sunshine, a pile of new fabric and time to sew isn't already enough goodness for one weekend, Shane and I even get the chance to go out tonight in Portland. Alone! Well, Silas will be coming along if you count a darling three month old baby.

from woods to table

My father-in-law built this beautiful table for us from Central Oregon lodge-pole pine. He hand-milled and built the table over a period of 25 days. It was inspired by SouleMama's harvest table. I love that we now have a place to gather as a family that was made from wood where both Shane and I grew up and made with love by someone dear to us. As a small gesture of thanks, the kids and I baked his favorite treat, two lemon meringue pies (tricky but they turned out great). When I sit at this table I can't help smile and think about the many family gatherings, birthday parties and arts and crafts that will take place around this table throughout the years. It will be a beloved piece of my children's childhood and, I hope, part of their children's as well.

weekends are for family and fun

this weekend was all about:

1. a toddler boy trying to keep up with the big kids and their many crafts

2. an introduction between a grandpa and a new grandson bearing his same middle name

3. lots of play time with another beloved grandfather

4. celebrating a special birthday girl with a teddy bear party

5. and so many, a dozen, giggling little girls

6. a candlelit advent Sunday with a long time advent tradition: Danish aebleskiver
